                               After  Everyone Goes Home

I want to thank everyone who was able to come to my little part of the world to celebrate Behrs life and the friendships we have made on CB. It meant so much to me that so many of you were there. I got to know each of you a little better.  There was much laughter, a few tears, and plenty of food.
( a special thanks to Austin, Just, and Bx  for providing and preparing it! )

Austin has graciously provided a place to view and save  many of the pictures that were taken.

Looking forward to seeing you all again  either in chat, or in person.  I love you, my second

Deadline and Registration

Hey All,

For the June 1- June 8th event.

Your comments in CB  last night  made me  realize accommodations may become an issue depending

on how many of you are going to attend June's event.  I did some checking on more cabin rentals and

options are getting very limited.  So I am going to need a firm commitment , in writing, from anyone

that is going to attend by   FEBRUARY  15, 2018
.
I am also going to ask for a registration fee of $25  to ensure your spot is held . I will need to know

how many are attending and for what days, so we can plan meals and how much food to purchase.

List any food allergies  so we can plan around those.

My email is landscaper2u@verizon.net    for registration and any questions you have.

Love you guys, take care and talk to you soon!    Aarrons/Don

P.S.  I have heard from a few of you telling me it's too far ahead to schedule time off for work.  I understand this, and will try to keep you updated on if there are any spaces available after the registration deadline. At this time the cabins rented have 14 bed spaces total.  As of 2/21/18  13 spots have been reserved.

Cost

OK , I've had a few people ask as to the cost of Junes get together so I'll try to let you know  what you can expect  to be responsible  for  , and what expenses will be taken care of on my end.

First off, the cabin rentals were taken care of back in July. I had to reserve them early, especially the old ski lodge.   I'm taking care of basic supplies - paper & plastic goods .  I'm also going to provide the bulk of the food and drinks while at the cabins. Those of you who have expressed an interest in helping with the cooking, and/ or making/bringing a particular dish,  I greatly appreciate it!  Along those lines, if any of you have a food allergy,  PLEASE  let me know as soon as possible. We will be planning meals soon, and I want to accommodate  any ones needs.  A favorite food/drink list would also help.  Also along those lines, In the future  i will be asking for a firm commitment on number of people and days you will be staying so I can better plan on amount of food needed, as well as to determine if extra  sleeping accommodations  will be needed. If you have anyy other special needs, please dont hesitate to let me know.

Obviously your first expense will be travel to and from central PA- if you are flying in , there are car rentals available. If you are flying in to the State College/University Park Airport  and let me know ahead of time, I will do my best to meet you there, and can provide transportation for a limited number of people at a time.  The same applies if you are coming in by train, or bus.

Your costs also come into play for expenses occurred during any day trips we might take ( admission or parking fees, meals, equipment rental,  or licenses  - weinerman  found info on tourists fishing licenses of 3 day $26.90 or 7 day $34.90 thanks bud! )  On the subject of day trips, this is going to be a very relaxed schedule thing - we may break off into several different directions at times depending on who wants to do what.  Some of the time I hope to simply hang out, get to know one another better.

My email for those of you that dont have it yet, or didnt notice it in the first posting, is  landscaper2u@verizon.net      I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and meeting all of you in June !!!     Stay safe my friends,   Aarrons /Don

Cookies

Ok, so this doesnt actually have anything to do with Junes event, but I promised the recipe for my great grandmothers gingerbread cookies to Ram.   When I looked it up in her old recipe book, I found it wasnt as complete as I remembered.  I guess she figured she made them often enough, she didnt need to write it all down!   The amount of flour to use , as well as baking time and temperature , are approximate.  Its been a long time since I helped her make them!

                                                 Gingerbread Cookies

1 cup white sugar
1 cup Crisco
1 cup Briars Dark Molasses
2 eggs
1 tablespoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons soda in 3/4 cup strong black coffee
enough flour to make stiff enough to roll out ( best estimate is 4-5 cups )

mix well,  flour surface and rolling pin,  roll out, cut into shapes
bake @  375  @ 8-10 minutes

Enjoy!

Some background, about the name

Hey all,
This probably should have been the beginning of the blog, but as some of you know you, I'm not necessarily the most organized person.  😊    I've been coming to CB a long time, years in fact. I started out, as many of you, for one reason.  Anonymous at first, then as a registered viewer, I began to chat  (yes i know , now i never shut up!)  As time passed I grew to find friends there, and slowly,  you gave me the courage to broadcast.  A loose knit group of people developed, bouncing around from each others rooms.  We became an extended family.  A support group. A place to go to share the good times, and bad.

Spring of 2017,  we lost a member of  our family.   Behrinthewoods  passed away suddenly.  Some of you knew Behr very well.   Some newer members of our "gang'  never had the privilege of meeting him online.  I wish I had gotten to know him better.  We lived in the same state,  we shared a lot of the same upbringings.  I wish I had had the courage to reach out to him, to suggest meeting in person.  I like to think we could've been friends.  I don't know a lot about his life. He always seemed so happy.  It was always uplifting being in his room.  I suspect things were not always rosy in his life,,, it rarely is, in any ones.

Behrs death made me  take a look at my life.  The fear of stepping out of my comfort zone, of meeting people in general.  Hiding behind a computer screen.  Rural Pennsylvania is not exactly the gay mecca of the USA.  Growing up here at times was a living hell.  Fortunately things have gotten better, but old habits die hard.  I realized I could spend the rest of my life this way, or I could learn a lesson from his death.  I decided I wanted to try to change things, to reach out and be more a part of life. To not be afraid.

The get together in June is a part of that change. I want to give people in our "gang' a chance to meet in person, to strengthen those bonds of friendship we have made on CB.  I want to bring together our family - for that is what you are to me. You have supported me over the years, and literally have saved my life, and sanity.

I named the blog  Behrinthewoodstock as a tribute to him,  and to continue to remind myself  to live life to the fullest.

rest in peace  Behr
